The Blues have announced teenage sensation Romeo Lavia as their newest acquisition on a seven-year deal, with the Belgian playmaker completing his move to London from Southampton.

The 19-year-old played in his full debut campaign in the Premier League last season with the Saints, and while he was unable to help keep them up, the Brussels native gave a good account of himself, garnering interest from a plethora of European giants.

Ultimately, it was Chelsea who won the race for the Belgium international's signature, with the two-time European giants paying a reported £58 million (R1.4 billion), plus add-ons, for his services.

About joining the six-time English champions, Lavia told Chelsea's official website: "I'm really happy join Chelsea and be a part of this exciting project. It's an amazing football club with a great history and I'm really excited to get started.

"I can't wait to meet all my new teammates and build a chemistry together to achieve great things together."
