Despite Chelsea aiming to strengthen with the completed signing of Hakim Ziyech and expected arrival of Timo Werner, midfielder N'Golo Kante has now been linked with a huge £71 million move away from the Blues.
Manager Frank Lampard has been looking to the coming transfer window to bring reinforcements to Chelsea ahead of the 2020/21 season, with Ziyech already signed and Werner believed to have agreed terms with the club.
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz has also been strongly linked with the Blues, as has Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
According to Spanish publication AS, however, Lampard might need to be prepare himself for a high-profile exit in the form of Kante, who is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are believed to be readying a £71 million (R1.5 billion) offer for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's signature, with Chelsea said to be open to selling a few players to fund their spending spree.
While his time in London has been hugely successful, Kante has missed a lot of this season due to injuries, and has therefore been less effective and important in Lampard's system.
The Frenchman has played just 22 times for the Blues so far in this campaign, missing 14 matches.
