English Premier League
Result: Liverpool 2-1 Burnley
Date: 12 March 2017
Venue: Anfield
Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can saw Liverpool come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Burnley at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The visitors broke the deadlock after six minutes as Mathew Lowton's fine cross was turned home by Ashley Barnes at the far post.
The Reds pushed for an equaliser and dominated the proceedings, with Sadio Mane causing havoc down the flanks.
Burnley were quiet happy to sit back and allow Liverpool dictate the tempo, although the hosts were struggling to carve out chances.
However, Jurgen Klopp's charges eventually leveled matters on the stroke of halftime as Wijnaldum calmly slotted home from six-yards.
The Reds eventually took the lead after the hour mark, as Emre Can collected a pass from Divock Origi, before drilling the ball into the bottom corner from 20-yards out.
Burnely responded by introducing Robbie Brady for George Boyd as they looked for a way back into the clash.
The visitors threw numbers and spent most of the closing stages in the Liverpool half, although the home side stood firm.
Mane had a quiet game but he nearly bagged a third for Liverpool in the 89th minute, but Tom Heaton produced a fine save to deny the Senegalese.
Nonetheless, the score remained 2-1 at the full-time whistle at Anfield.
