Al Ahly got back to winning ways in the Egyptian Premier League after defeating Misr Lel Makkasa 4-0, with a former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker getting two goals.
Result: Al Ahly 4-0 Misr Lel Makkasa
Date: 22 February 2022
Venue: WE Al-Ahly Stadium
Luis Miquissone was handed a start in the attack alongside Mohamed Sherif and Hussein El Shahat, while Percy Tau continues to recover from injury.
Mosimane's charges had not been in league since December 2021 when they drew 1-1 away to Future, but since then they have been involved in the FIFA Club World Cup and CAF Champions League.
The decision to start with Miquissone paid dividends after the Tanzanian winger opened the scoring with his first goal for the Red Devils on 13 minutes.
The lead was doubled two minutes later as Miquissone completed his brace with a lovely chip after being played in by Hamdi Fathi.
It was one-way traffic from the onset and Al Ahly capped off a dominant first half with a third goal on the stroke of halftime courtesy of a strike from El Shahat.
Mosimane's charges were in control for the second half but were unlucky not to add to their tally, as the likes of Fathu, Sheriff and Miquissone were withdrawn with one eye on Saturday's CAF Champions League tie against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The visitors, meanwhile, were unable to find a way past Mohamed El Shenawy and his defence, but the hosts did go on to grab a fourth goal with three minutes left on the clock thanks to Zeyad Tarek's finish.
Al Ahly can now turn their focus to Saturday's showdown with Sundowns, who they eliminated in the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League.
