10 Managers Linked With Newcastle United?

With Newcastle United now officially taken over by a group said to be wealthier than Manchester City's owners, here are 10 available managers they could approach to spearhead a new and exciting chapter for the club's fans.

Steve Bruce is still in charge of the Magpies, but questions surrounding his future are likely to be asked following the news that owner Mike Ashley is likely to be bought out by a mega-rich consortium.

With a change as massive as this often comes a few adjustments to the coaching staff, and several high-profile tacticians are currently available should Newcastle's new owners look to replace Bruce in the coming months.

Following his sacking by Chelsea in January, Frank Lampard, 43, could be high up on the list of potential candidates given his experience of working with big names at the Blues.

The ex-England international began his career in management in Chelsea's youth ranks, before taking charge of Derby County in the English Championship. While he failed to win promotion to the Premier League with the Rams, his efforts were deemed promising enough for Roman Abramovich.

Lampard returned to the Stamford Bridge club in 2019, this time to take charge of the first team, but lasted only a season and a half following a run of underwhelming results and performances in the first half of his second campaign in charge.

Former Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo is another manager Newcastle could have in mind, with the Italian boss also having worked with big personalities in the past, including current Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Antonio Conte and Gennaro Gattuso are also available, while Eddie Howe could be considered given his knowledge of England's top division – he has been available for hire since August last year following an eight-year spell at Bournemouth.

If the likely new owners decide not to bring in a new manager straight away, perhaps 2022 could be the year they do so given that Bruce's contract at the club expires at the end of the current season.
