FC Barcelona's Gerard Pique has once again caused headlines in Spain after having a dig at Real Madrid fans ahead of the upcoming El Clasico.

The Spaniard is well-known for his controversial comments in the press and on social media, and once again used Twitter to have a slight dig at Los Blancos fans.
"It bothers some to see how the Camp Nou crowd applaud their team despite elimination. They (alluding to Real Madrid) are used to hearing whistles despite qualifying for the semis," he recently tweeted, as translated into English by AS.

The defender is referring to the atmosphere at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, when Barca fans applauded their team despite seeing them being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Juventus.
Meanwhile, Real's fans are known to whistle at their players during home games, and did so in the clash against Bayern Munich earlier this week.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the first to receive the ire of his home crowd after failing to impress at first, but he later silenced his doubters by scoring three goals to eliminate the German giants.
Pique, though, is unlikely to receive a rousing reception when Barcelona face Real in El Clasico on Sunday (the game starts at 8:45pm SA time).

Real welcome their eternal rivals with a three-point lead and also still have a game in hand over them, which means Barcelona need to win at the Santiago Bernabeu in order to keep their La Liga title hopes alive.
