Things got a little worse for the Reggae Boyz in the second half when defender Je-Vaughn Watson bundled the the ball over his own goal line in the 66th minute.
Mathias Corujo, who came on as a substitute, wrapped things up for the Uruguayans in the last few minutes of the encounter.
The win ended Uruguay's five-game winless streak in the Copa America, while, for Jamaica, it meant that they had lost all of their past six Copa America matches without scoring a single goal.
Mexico 1-1 Venezuela
A magnificent solo effort from Jesus Corona helped Mexico seal top spot in Group C with a 1-1 draw against Venezuela.
Venezuela defender Jose Manuel Velazquez opened the scoring with a terrific bicycle kick, but with 10 minutes remaining, that strike was nullified by Corona's strike.
Mexico extended their unbeaten run to 22 games, but the team's 11-match winning streak was ended on the night.
