FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has revealed why he thinks Argentina deserve to win this year's Copa America.
Messi Sets New All-Time Goalscoring Record
The 28-year-old, who became his country's all-time leading goalscorer on Wednesday, has helped guide his national team to a third consecutive final in a major competition – he had previously led the Albiceleste to the 2015 Copa and 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.
After their semi-final win, Messi was asked why he thinks Argentina deserve to win this year's tournament.
"This group is in another final, because we deserve it, because we work hard. Because things have been done well since the first game, against a difficult rival in Chile," he answered, as quoted by Sport.
"The team has grown throughout the Copa, both in attack and defence. We've been improving and we have had a lot of excitement for this Copa. We deserved to be in the final."
