Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero helped Manchester City come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Bristol City in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.
The Citizens dominated in the opening exchanges as the likes of Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gündogan managed to carve out a couple chances in the opening 15 minutes.
De Bruyne went close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts on 25 minutes but the Belgian's low strike was turned away by Frank Fielding.
Claudio Bravo, who was deputising for Ederson, was called into action after 33 minutes as he produced a good save to keep out Marlon Pack's effort.
Three minutes before the break, Bristol were awarded a penalty when John Stones made a rash challenge in the box on Bobby Reid, who stepped up to slot home the penalty, 0-1.
10 minutes into the second half, City managed to equalise through De Bruyne, who collected a pass from Raheem Sterling before firing past a helpless Fielding.
City continued to dominate but they were let down by their finishing as Sterling and Sane squandered chances after 69 minutes.
With 10 minutes remaining, Pep Guardiola introduced Kyle Walker for Oleksandr Zinchenko as City pushed for a winning goal.
The Citizens threw numbers forward in search of a winning goal and they were rewarded in the second minute of stoppage time when Aguero headed home Bernado Silva's cross, 2-1.
