Arsenal came from a goal down to narrowly defeat Norwich City 2-1 in extra-time in the English League Cup at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners fashioned the first attack of the game when Rob Holding got on the end of a great cross only to be denied by a brilliant Bryan Gunn save.
After an even game thereafter, Josh Murphy raced through the Arsenal defence and latched on to a through ball to give Norwich a 1-0 after 34 minutes.
Norwich almost doubled the lead in the 40th minute through a curling strike by Nelson Oliveira who was denied by a brilliant save by debutant Matthew Macey in the Arsenal goal.
No further goals were added as Norwich went into the halftime break leading 1-0.
Macey was keeping the young Arsenal squad in the game with his fine performance as he kept out Murphy's header and tipping away a dangerous looking cross.
Theo Walcott almost levelled the scores in the 80th minute after he rose highest at the far post but his header sailed just over the bar.
Late substitute Eddie Nketiah made an immediate impact when he got on the end of a near-post flick on to score for Arsenal and make it 1-1 in the 86th minute.
After 90 minutes, the teams could not be separated as the game went into extra-time.
Nketiah was proving to be an inspired substitution as he got the Gunner's second goal after rising high to head the ball into the net in the 96th minute.
The goals from the substitute were enough to seal a narrow victory for Arsene Wenger's men and progression to the next round.
