Liverpool cruised to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after thrashing Lincoln City 7-2 at the LNER Stadium.
Xherdan Shaqiri earned a rare start in the attack alongside Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino while Kostas Tsimikas was given his official Reds debut.
Shaqiri made the most of his chance by opening the scoring from a free-kick on nine minutes before Minamino doubled the lead 10 minutes later.
Curtis Jones also repaid the faith on his first start of the season by bagging a brace in the final 15 minutes of the first half.
Minamino, Marko Grujic and Origi added the fifth and sixth goals for the visitors, while Lincoln managed to get two goals back through Adetayo Edun and Lewis Montsma.
Manchester City scraped into the fourth round after overcoming Championship outfit Bournemouth at the Etihad.
There City debuts for Liam Delap and Taylor Harwood-Bellis while Ferran Torres was handed his first start.
Delap, the son of former Stoke City star Rory, marked his debut with a goal after opening the scoring on 18 minutes.
The Cherries were back on level terms four minutes later, with Sam Sturridge finding the back of the net from Foden's first-time pass.
Foden went onto bag the second goal for City on 75 minutes just a minute after Mahrez had the upright.
