Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was believed to be wanted by Real Madrid in this transfer window, but has now revealed why he decided to stay at the Bavarians.
Bayern Coach Provides Update On Lewandowski
The Pole admitted to being frustrated at Bayern on a number of occasions last season, while his agent also publicly declared his client's desire to try his luck elsewhere.
Los Blancos were said to be one of the clubs after his signature, but Lewandowski has explained that new manager Niko Kovac fought hard for him to stay at the German giants.
"I had a really good discussion with Niko Kovac," Lewandowski told SportBild.
"He understood how I felt. The coach explained to me how he wanted to play. I liked that, and because of that decided I wanted to stay. My mind set changed that day.
"I know I've made mistakes, but I'm only human.
"I realised how important I am for Bayern and they weren't going to let me leave. That shows the level and stability of the club.
"That was the point I realised I wanted to give my all for the club once more. I'm looking forward to my future at the club and in Munich. My heart is fully at Bayern again."
