RB Leipzig moved to within a point of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after defeating Arminia Bielefeld 1-0 on Friday night.
Leipzig's were desperate to get their title charge back on track after being held to a 1-1 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt at the Red Bull Arena.
As for the the hosts, three points would have done wonders in their bid to beat relegation as they entered the clash sitting in 15th spot.
Leipzig were without the likes of Angelino and Bayern Munich-bound Dayot Upamecano, while Reinhold Yabo and the suspended Nathan de Mina missed out for the home side.
However, one goal was all it took to get the job done for Julian Nagelsmann's side at the SchucoArena, with Marcel Sabitzer getting his fifth league goal of the campaign on 46 minutes.
The defeat offers Hertha Berlin and Mainz the chance to move out of the bottom three if they win their matches on Sunday, which would drag Bielefeld into the drop zone.
Bayern can restore their four-point lead at the summit of the standings of they secure maximum points against Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon.
