Egyptian giants Al Ahly have sacked head coach Marcel Koller after the team's CAF Champions League elimination at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The reigning African champions were eliminated on the away-goals rule following a 1-1 draw against Sundowns in the second leg on Friday night.

The club have now announced the departure of the Swiss coach, who spent just under three years with the club.
Statement:
"Negotiations are ongoing with Koller to terminate the contract by mutual consent, in a manner befitting the club and its coach.
"Al-Ahly confirms its pride in what Koller has achieved, as he gave everything he could along with his assistant staff, who also deserve thanks."
Koller joined Al Ahly in 2022 and went on to win a number of trophies, including two CAF Champions Leagues and two Egyptian Premier League titles.
