The French national team seems to have a lot of world-class talent to choose from.
Their senior side made it to the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while their U23 outfit made it the final of the Olympic Games football tournament earlier this year too.
This illustrates the plethora of talent that Didier Deschamps has to choose from, but in the process, this has left others to be cast to the wayside, and one such player is Alban Lafont.
Regarded as one of French football's most promising talents during his time as a teenager at Toulouse, the shot-stopper has seen his reputation dwindle in recent times.
Lafont was called up to the Les Bleus squad just before the previous World Cup, but is yet to make an appearance for the two-time world champions.
The rise of Mike Maignan, coupled with Deschamps' insistence on selecting Brice Samba and Alphonse Areola has seen the Nantes man's progress to the senior side curtailed, but an African nation is now reportedly looking to take advantage of the situation.
According to Ouest-France, with Lafont having been born in Burkina Faso, the Burkinabe Football Federation has started discussions with the 25-year-old over the possibility of having him play for the Stallions.
The same report claims the player and his representatives are giving the nationality switch some thought, but nothing has officially been decided as yet.

During the latest international break, the west African giants successfully qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, so Lafont could be part of their national team by the time the tournament in Morocco commences.
