Last Friday, Yanga confirmed that they had parted ways with the Argentine tactician, and later that day, the former TS Galaxy head coach was appointed as his successor.
While it was initially presumed that back-to-back league defeats to Azam FC and Tabora United were the reason for his dismissal at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, it is alleged that the issues leading to his sacking ran deeper.
According to The Guardian Tanzania, the Yanga chiefs were not happy with what they deemed a drastic decline in performances.
While they were able to achieve emphatic victories last season, five of their eight wins to start the 2024/25 league campaign came with a 1-0 scoreline, with many of the team's superstars struggling to hit top form.
The second reason, which further strained relations between the Olavarria native and the club's executives, is the altercation Gamondi got involved in with Singida Black Stars' fitness coach, Sliman Marloene, during half-time at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
These factors are said to have combined and led to the former Mamelodi Sundowns manager's firing. Now, Ramovic is in charge and has gone from managing a mid-table South African outfit to leading an ambitious East African powerhouse.
Gamondi won last season's league title with a record points total, while also clinching the Federation Cup, and helped them make it past the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in over four decades.
