The Red Devils have kept their title hopes alive following Tuesday night's comeback triumph over Modern Future in the Egyptian Premier League.
After going a goal behind in the 26th minute of the game, the Club of the Century managed to walk away from the fixture with all three points following a 62nd minute strike from Bafana Bafana international Tau to make the score 2-1, after Emam Ashour had equalised earlier.
Tau returned to action after sustaining a hamstring injury on international duty in June and has helped Al Ahly, who still have three games in hand, go within five points of league leaders Pyramids.
Speaking in a press conference after the game, Ahly head coach Koller name-checked Tau following his impact in the match.
"Al Ahly's level was low in the first half, but when we scored the equaliser before the end of the half, it made the players enter the second half with great motivation, and this appeared during the second half," he said, according to Youm7.
"I am happy with the South African Percy Tau scoring a header and the Moroccan Reda Slim making the assist after their participation for a few minutes."
Koller also commented on his future at the club amid rumours he is wanted by teams in Saudi Arabia.
