An African powerhouse is reportedly actively trying to recruit one of Real Madrid's attacking stars and get him to make an allegiance switch in time for the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Diario AS, in attendance during Los Blancos' latest league victory over Real Sociedad was Morocco national team head coach Walid Regragui, with the 47-year-old tactician understood to be at the Santiago Bernabeu in order to have a look at winger Brahim Diaz.
Although the 24-year-old only took to the pitch in the 87th minute of the tie, his good form while on loan with AC Milan over the past two seasons and his displays for Los Blancos so far in this campaign have seen Regragui push to have him integrated him into the Atlas Lions fold.
This is not something the former Wydad Athletic Club boss has shied away from, having publicly stated that he is monitoring the Manchester City academy graduate.
"Obviously we are interested in Brahim. However, there are many aspects to these cases, and they are not easy to resolve. One of them is the African Cup in January, which does not help us," he said when announcing his most recent Morocco squad.
However, it is claimed is that Diaz still harbours ambitions of representing the Spanish national team.
The young star was a regular for current La Furia Roja boss Luis de la Fuente when he was responsible for Spain's youth sides, but apart from the single cap Diaz gained during the height of the pandemic, he has not been called up to represent the 2010 FIFA World Cup winners since 2021.

Now back in the Spanish capital, the Malaga-born attacker is behind the likes of Rodrygo Goes in the Real pecking order, meaning there is still little likelihood of him being called up for Spain.
However, Morocco still want to snap him up, and reportedly hope he will commit to them in time for the AFCON in January 2024.
