FIFA has released a statement following the tragic news that at least six people were killed in a stampede ahead of Cameroon's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations win over Comoros. Patrice Motsepe, meanwhile, has since announced a venue change for an upcoming fixture.
Sky Sports reported late on Monday that six people had passed away after being crushed as fans attempted to get into the Olembe Stadium to watch the host nation take on minnows Comoros.
It was claimed by officials working at a nearby hospital that as many as 40 people were hurt in the incident, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) later revealing they were "investigating the situation".
