Nigeria 3-0 Benin
Nigeria opened their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 3-0 win over Benin on Saturday evening.
Star forward Victor Osimhen was named on the bench, having yet to feature in a competitive clash this season after his transfer saga.
The Super Eagles managed to get the breakthrough on the stroke of halftime when Ballon d'Or nominee Ademola Lookman found the back of the net.
Osimhen was introduced in the second half and made his mark by doubling the lead in the 78th minute, before Lookman completed his brace in the final seven minutes.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates defender Olisah Ndah made his return for the Super Eagles after being introduced in the 63rd minute.
Cameroon 1-0 Namibia
Cameroon began their qualifying campaign with a slender 1-0 win over Namibia at the Stade Omnisports Roumdé Adjia.
Peter Shalulile was named in the starting line-up for the Warriors, which also included Deon Hotto, Riaan Hanamub, Aprocius Petrus and Prins Tijueza,
After a goalless first half, it was the Indomitable Lions who got the breakthrough on 65 minutes as Vincent Aboubakar found the back of the net.
Mauritania 1-0 Botswana
Mauritania made a winning start in Group C after edging past Botswana 1-0 on Saturday evening.
The home side left it late to find the winner as Sidi Amar found the back of the net in the 84th minute.
