Bucs Star Nets Stunner In AFCON Qualifying Loss

Namibia 1-2 Kenya

Kenya clinched their first victory in Group J after a 2-1 win over Namibia at Orlando Stadium.

Following a goalless first stanza, John Avire eventually broke the deadlock for Kenya just before the hour-mark and Duke Abuya doubled the lead for the Harambee Stars 14 minutes before time.

Orlando Pirates wing-back Deon Hotto pulled a goal back for the Brave Warriors in stoppage time but it was too little too late.

Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria

Nigeria's perfect start in Group D was halted after a goalless draw against Rwanda at Stade Amahoro.

The Super Eagles started their campaign on a flying note after a 3-0 win over Benin on home soil but could not find the back of the net in Kigali.

The Wasps, on the other hand, remained unbeaten, after they opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Libya away.

Zimbabwe 0-0 Cameroon

Cameroon could not extend their winning start in Group J after a goalless draw against Zimbabwe at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

The Indomitable Lions started off with a narrow 1-0 win over Namibia but were restricted by the Warriors, who had former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat in the line-up.

The Southern African side picked up only their second point after they also played to a goalless draw against Kenya in their opener.

Liberia 0-3 Algeria

Algeria maintained their winning start after thrashing Liberia 3-0 at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.

Amine Gouiri opened the scoring for Algeria after 17 minutes and  Adem Zorgane doubled their lead seven minutes later.

Baghdad Bounedjah secured maximum points for the Desert Foxes with the third goal ten minutes before time.

Chad 0-2 Cote d'Ivoire

Cote d'Ivoire extended their winning start in Group G after a  2-0 win over Chad at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Jean-Philippe Krasso broke the deadlock for Cote d'Ivoire on the stroke of half-time and Oumar Diakite doubled the lead for the Elephands ten minutes into the second stanza.

Zambia 3-2 Sierra Leone

Zambia got off the mark in Group G after edging Sierra Leone in a five-goal thriller at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Kennedy Musonda got the breakthrough for Zambia shortly before the hour-mark and Augustus Kargbo levelled matters for Sierra Leone five minutes later.

Kelvin Kampamba restored the lead for Chipolopolo with 20 minutes remaining but Hindolo Mustapha equalised again for the Leone Stars three minutes later.

Kings Kangwa finally got the winner for Zambia, who got their first win and points in Group G.
