When Bidvest Wits crashed out of the CAF Confederations Cup, many were shocked that Swazi side, Royal Leopards, humbled the University club - but based on last night's victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, there could be positive result from their failure in Africa.
Gavin Hunt is no newcomer to the Absa Premiership and knows full well what it takes to win the league title - having done so with SuperSport United.
It seems that the exit from the Confederations Cup, although disappointing, will boost their hopes of making a late push for the PSL crown.
Wits aren't called the Clever Boys for no reason; they know that Sundowns and Chiefs still have a tough job when juggling continental duties with domestic games, thus giving them an opportunity to sneak up the league table.
Last night's triumph over Sundowns saw them leapfrog the Brazilians into second place, and move within seven points of Kaizer Chiefs - who play this evening.
After witnessing Chiefs throw away the title last season due to their cup commitments, Hunt will be praying and hoping that the same slip up will happen again.
There is certainly more than enough room for Wits to ensure they can crawl their way up to Chiefs' points level, and if they continue in the same fashion, they could become a title contender.
Who knows, what will happen… Hunt certainly knows how to make things happen and that showed last night. Stuart Baxter and his charges better beware!
