The story
PUMA has unveiled the Home and Away kits for the men's and women's national teams of five African football giants – Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal, and Ghana.
The designs of these kits are inspired by each country's identity and culture, featuring detailed elements that reflect their art, history, and pride.
Egypt
Egypt, with seven Africa Cup of Nations titles, pays tribute to its royal history with kits adorned with Pharaohs, sphinxes, sand dunes, and pyramids.
The bold red Home jersey features a repeating print of these iconic symbols, while the white Away jersey highlights a striking Pharaoh design among pyramid motifs.
Côte d'Ivoire
African champions, Côte d'Ivoire's new kits celebrate the 'La Fête des Masques' festival, a key part of Ivorian folklore.
The orange Home jersey is inspired by traditional festival costumes with intricate fringe details, while the Away jersey features a design symbolizing the ceremonial dances, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the festival.
Morocco
For Morocco, the new kits reflect the country's rich heritage, drawing inspiration from Moroccan and Berber craftsmanship.
The Home kit incorporates traditional zellige tile patterns, while the Away kit features Berber symbols representing protection and harmony.
The vibrant red and green colors align with the national flag, connecting deeply with Moroccan culture.
In designing these kits, Abderrahmane Trabsini, born and raised in Amsterdam, was inspired by the beauty of Moroccan and Berber craftsmanship in creating the Moroccan kits.
Senegal
Senegal's new Home kit represents 'Teranga,' the spirit of hospitality, with design elements inspired by the nation's workers and modern art.
The Away kit stands out with a bold green and lime color scheme and a lion print, drawing from Senegalese culture and art.
Ghana
Ghana's iconic status is reflected in its kits, with the Home kit featuring Adinkra symbols and a central black star. The Away kit, in vibrant yellow, pays homage to Ghana's "Gold Coast" and incorporates these cultural symbols.
The design, created by Jefferson Osei and Daniel Alum Jasper, connects all Ghanaian tribes through their shared heritage.
