The story
It's the 10th anniversary of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 list and this year's class sees Banyana star Hildah Magaia making the cut alongside, Africa's most promising designers, actors, entrepreneurs and athletes to name a few.
The Mazatlán F.C Femenil baller is featured on the list alongside reigning CAF African Footballer of the Year and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen and Springboks' World Cup-winning rugby star, Damien Willemse.
Magaia is one of 14 South Africans on the Forbes Africa's Under 30 list, which also features "Water" hitmaker and Grammy Award-winner, Tyla and "Blood Water" actress, Ama Qamata.
The "Breadwinner" as she's affectionately known, will long be remembered for scoring the winning goals in Banyana's 2022 Women's AFCON triumph over Morocco and for her key goals against Sweden and Italy in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Magaia is the only women's footballer on the list and it could be the start of many high-profile recognitions for a player that Banyana Banyana's all-time leading goalscorer, Portia Modisa, is already calling a legend:
"The girl [Magaia] has done so much. She's now a legend, no one can dispute that. She's scored many crucial moments and history will always remember her. What she's doing now is the same thing that made the likes of Masinga, Khumalo and McCarthy the legends they are even today.
"As a legend myself, I welcome Hildah to the legends table," Modise said in a quote published by The Sowetan after Banyana's historic win over Italy at last year's World Cup.
