The story
Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced the departure of four key players ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season, including long-serving Uruguayan Gaston Sirino.
Sirino, who arrived at Chloorkop in January 2018, leaves after making 211 appearances across all competitions, finding the net 44 times.
While his impact diminished in recent seasons, Sirino played a pivotal part in Sundowns' success, contributing to all seven of their recent title triumphs.
Sirino's wifey, Melanie, shared a heartwarming message to thank Masandawana for being a blessing on her family. Gaston qualified has a dual-citizen early last year, with his two daughters spending the first few years of their lives here in South Africa.
"Firstly, I can only say THANK YOU, THANK YOU for these years, THANK YOU because we have lived the best years at this club #MamelodiSundowns, because it has been one of the greatest blessings that God has given us.
"As you can see, our daughters grew up there and so did we, not only in age but in wisdom, experience, and love. We would have liked to finish this cycle in another way, but we know that our lives are in God's hands and that his purpose will be just! As a family, we thank all our teammates for their joy and for accompanying us in every special moment! Also, to the Motsepe family, for opening the doors of this beautiful club to us, THANK YOU," wrote Melanie on her IG post.
