What's the story?
The Soweto clubs took part in the PSL season's curtain-raiser this past weekend in the Carling Black Label cup, which returned to the game for the first time since 2019.
Despite the game ending 0-0 in regulation time, the game itself proved to be quite entertaining for the adoring fans. However, it was the penalty shootout that got supporters talking the most.
Derby Drip
For one, it can be said that goalkeeper Brandon Peterson attracted the most conversation after he managed to pull off two dramatic saves in the shootout, ultimately guiding Amakhosi to victory.
That being said, supporters looked forward to the tie given that both Chiefs and Pirates have showcased their playing threads for the new season.
Throwback To A Classic
The Mayfair based outfit took the opportunity to play in their new away strip, as their stars featured in the recognizable mint coloured kit. For Chiefs, the 2021 CBL winners wore their new home jersey, with the kit drawing comparisons to a strip the club had in the early 2000s.
