Orlando Pirates certainly have the best and most colourful fans in South Africa and at every game you are certain to spot a person dressed from head to toe in some interesting outfit. At Cape Town Stadium, there was one that stuck out for me.
I have seen this fan on many occasions at Cape Town Stadium and for many years, this person has not missed an Ajax Cape Town – Orlando Pirates encounter.
This was again the case on Saturday afternoon when I came across this popular fan, who dresses in a gorilla mask all while covered with an Orlando Pirates overall and apron.
That isn't the only thing that makes this fan stand out, he or she also dons a huge hat that is in the shape of Cape Town Stadium (they have Green Point Stadium written on it).
This outfit is simply marvellous and all fans from the Ghost, to Ajax supporters and even Khosi fans take pictures with this person. But what few realise is that inside the hat is a green beaded field and goal posts as well as chairs!
