Mpisane Hints At Music Comeback Amid Royal AM Saga

Royal AM chairman/player Andile Mpisane seems to be back to his joyful self despite his mother, Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize's struggles with SARS and the club.

The story

The 2024/25 season has been an incredibly difficult one for Andile Mpisane, his club and family amid MaMkhize's run-in with the South African Revenue Service.

Mpisane, who's barely been active on social media throughout this saga, shared videos on TikTok and his Instagram stories of him grooving to Gqom music.

It's not clear whether Mpisane, who has dabbled with making music in the past, is soft launching a new musical project or not but the 22-year-old is back to dancing to pulsating Gqom tracks again.

Mpisane was also seen dancing in what looked like a recording studio, subtlety hinting at taking another shot at a music career.

Royal AM has not participated in a match since December 29, when they were defeated by TS Galaxy at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

This followed a suspension of their fixtures after it was revealed that SARS had appointed a curator to manage the team's day-to-day operations.

The situation surrounding Royal AM could soon reach its resolution, with SARS opening bidding for the club's top-flight status, starting at R15 million.

It remains unclear who is leading the bid to acquire Royal AM's status following last week's auction. Reports suggest that foreign investors have shown interest in purchasing the club, while David Skosana, a former SuperSport United administrator and MP for Mkhonto weSizwe, has confirmed he's leading a bid to move the club to KwaNdebele.

Whoever buys the troubled KZN side will need significant financial resources, not only to purchase the club but also to address its debts.

Last season, Royal AM operated under a global transfer ban imposed by FIFA due to unpaid wages to Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic and Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascomento.

This ban severely impacted the club, leading them to give game time to chairman Andile Mpisane, withdraw from the DStv Diski Challenge, and eventually have their fixtures suspended earlier this year due to SARS' involvement.
