The Buccaneers are making a return to the knockout stages of Africa's elite club competition for the first time since 2013, when they reached the final.
They have impressed in this campaign, finishing the group stages unbeaten and will be eager to continue their fine form against a formidable Algerian opponent.
Pirates captain Innocent Maela emphasised the team's excitement and readiness for the challenge, pointing out that their previous experience in Algeria will be an advantage.
"It's going to be an exciting game. It's going to be a game that we are looking forward to – a very competitive game. Like you said now, we have the experience of playing here, in this country, same stadium. As the players are excited and we are looking forward to the match," said Maela, speaking through Pirates' YouTube Channel.
Meanwhile, coach Jose Riveiro echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the difficulty of the task ahead.
He highlighted the strength of all teams at this stage of the tournament and expects a highly competitive match against MC Alger.
"First of all, so happy, so excited to find ourselves in the Last Eight of the competition. We know it's going to be a tough one, obviously. Like I said, we're in the Last Eight in the Champions League, so every opponent is a strong one and MC Alger is no exception. We know it's going to be an interesting match," said Riveiro, speaking through Pirates' YouTube Channel.
The winner of this two-legged tie will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either Egyptian side Pyramids or Morocco's AS FAR in the battle for a place in the final.
