During the mid-season transfer window, the Lion of Judah saw his time with the record African champions come to an end as he moved to the Qatari Stars League.
The Bafana Bafana star spent four years with the Club of the Century, but after losing prominence within the team during the 2024/25 campaign, the Witbank native decided to part ways with Ahly.
Tau moved to the Qatari top flight for a reported €155 000 (R3 million) in January, and while he has not scored in any of the five league matches he has played for his new side, The King are allegedly keen to sign another player from the North African giants.
When the 30-year-old South African completed his move to the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium, he joined two of his former Ahly teammates at the club—Badr Benoun and Ahmed Abdelkader. However, according to Arab 360 News, it is the latter that Qatar SC want to sign permanently.
While Abdelkader arrived from Ahly before Tau, the Egyptian international is there on a temporary basis, having only joined on loan at the start of the season. Now, the same report claims that the club want to secure his services permanently.
