Chiefs Slayer Hands Nabi TENTH League Loss

Chiefs Slayer Hands Nabi TENTH League Loss

Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows entered the halftime break with the score level at 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Betway Premiership

Result: Golden Arrows 2-1 Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 29 March 2025

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi made three changes from the loss to Richards Bay, as Yusuf Maart, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Gaston Sirino came in for Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Mduduzi Shabalala and Pule Mmodi.

The visitors had the perfect chance to take the lead on 10 minutes after being awarded a penalty for Thokzani Lukhele's foul on Makabi Lilepo. Maart stepped up in place of Inácio Miguel but sent his spot-kick against the upright.

Chiefs were made to rue that miss as Arrows took the lead in the 26th minute when Knox Mutizwa won possession off Miguel before racing clear into the box and putting the ball on the plate for Sibiya to fire into an empty net.

However, Arrows' joy only lasted four minutes as Chiefs were back on level terms when Maart made up for his penalty miss by latching onto Sirino's through-ball before firing past Maova in a one-on-one situation.

Chiefs were quite vulnerable at the back at times and they were nearly punished after the break when Angelo Van Rooi latched onto a routine ball over the top go face-to-face with Bruve Bvuma, but the Arrows sent his effort wide.

Coach Nabi responded with a double change on the hour mark as Shabalala and Wandile Duba came on for Ashley du Preez and Ngcobo in the hopes of the refreshing the attack with 30 minutes left on the clock.

However, it was Arrows who got the next goal as Siyanda Mthanti did superbly down the right before picking out Knox Mutizwa who fired into an empty for his seventh career goal against the Soweto giants.

The goal secured the win for Arrows, who are just two points adrift of Chiefs who occupy eighth spot with seven matches left in the season.
