Foster Suffers Blow Ahead Of Bafana Camp

South African star Lyle Foster suffered two big blows on Tuesday night during Burnley's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Burnley remain firm in the race to win the EFL Championship title this season, as they are now two points behind league leaders Sheffield United following their 1-1 stalemate with West Brom on Tuesday.

Manager Scott Parker notably omitted Foster from the starting line-up despite having recently praised the South African forward after he scored in their previous game against Luton on 8 March.

Get ready for a football spectacle like no other as the SportPesa Cup 2025 takes centre stage from Friday 21 March to Sunday 23 March, at Edgemead Football Club.

A report by local newspaper Burnley Express described Foster as having been "harshly dropped" by Parker, which seemingly served as a bit of a blow for a player who is trying to build momentum after ending a 10-game goal drought across all competitions for the club.

Eventually, Foster was brought onto the pitch in the 63rd minute, but the worst was yet to come, as he was later subbed off 25 minutes later after picking up an injury.

Burnley are yet to reveal the full extent of Foster's latest injury setback, and it is now unclear whether the player will be available for Bafana Bafana during the upcoming international break after he was named in the provisional squad.

Bafana are set to face Lesotho in less than 10 days, while Foster could also miss Burnley's final game before the international break against Swansea City on Saturday, 15 March.

According to Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old marksman has registered three goals and four assists in 26 matches across all competitions for Burnley this season.
