Eric Tinkler has returned to coaching in the top flight after spending weeks waiting for his next project.
Tinkler has taken over after Sekhukhune axed Lehlohonolo Seema last week. As reported by the Siya crew, Tinkler has arrived to work with Marc van Heerden as his assistant coach. Paulus Masehe will be one of the assistants, while Kaitano Tembo is understood to have been deployed to the development structures. Nascent Nkhwashu will be the goalkeeper coach.

Tinkler's first match as Sekhukhune coach will be a Betway Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants, who are still on a high after booking a spot in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where they will face the coach's former side, Orlando Pirates. He will no doubt be expected to hit the ground running, especially because they are in a good position to qualify for one of the CAF competitions for next season.
Expectations at Sekhukhune are usually high, so Tinkler will have his work cut out in trying to ensure the big bosses at Sekhukhune are always happy.
Tinkler will have an experienced squad of players to work with, which could make his job of settling in much easier. Players such as Daniel Cardoso, Linda Mntambo, Thabang Monare and Keletso Makgalwa could prove to be key as they look to finish in a good position, and possibly win the Nedbank Cup.

Van Heerden, meanwhile, will be getting his first experience as an assistant coach in the top flight of South African football, having retired from the game last year. Tinkler worked with a young coach in Lebogang Manyama at City, so Van Heerden is the latest to get an opportunity to prove himself as an assistant in the big league.
