Amid reports that South African coach Benni McCarthy is on the verge of joining an African nation, a Kenya football chief has revealed that they will announce a head coach "very soon".
The former Manchester United coach has been linked with the Kenya national team role in the past few months.
The Harambee Stars have been without a permanent coach since their former boss, Engin Firat, stepped down from the role in December, citing unpaid wages among his reasons for leaving.
It was reported in February the process has stalled due to the organisation wanting to resolve some internal issues first.
However, FKF president Hussein Mohammed has confirmed that an announcement is incoming but did not confirm whether it was Benni McCarthy who would takeover the reins.
"Very soon in the next coming days, we will make that announcement," Hussein told Pulse Sports
"[The] FKF is working to appoint a substantive coach and a competent technical bench to help us achieve our objectives.
"That's why the current technical bench was appointed on an interim basis. We will provide an update on the new coach once all the details are finalised."
Local reports suggest that McCarthy will land in Kenya on Wednesday.
If McCarthy is confirmed as Kenya's coach, his first competitive matches in charge will be against Gambia and Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
