The Kenya national team is reportedly still eager and pushing to appoint Benni McCarthy as the new head coach.
According to reports in Kenya, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) remains interested in hiring McCarthy as their new manager, with initial talks said to have begun in December 2024.

The Harambee Stars have been without a permanent coach since their former boss, Engin Firat, stepped down from the role in December, citing unpaid wages among his reasons for leaving.
Now, it is said that McCarthy is still the favourite to become Firat's successor, but significant issues within the FKF are delaying the South African's official appointment.
According to Pulse Kenya, McCarthy's camp is expected to hold further negotiations with the FKF; however, the process has stalled due to the organisation wanting to resolve some internal issues first.
The organisation's Transition Ad Hoc Committee recently released a report revealing that the FKF has accrued debt of Ksh380 million (R54 million) and is facing 21 legal disputes.
As such, the FKF is reportedly seeking a way to secure funding to clear their debt so that McCarthy can work under the right conditions.
Furthermore, it is claimed that Kenya is in a race against time to confirm McCarthy's appointment before the March international break, when the country will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against The Gambia and Gabon.
