Kylian Mbappe has been backed to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid following his UEFA Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City.

After a relatively slow start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe looks as though he has acclimatised to life in the Spanish capital, given his recent form.
On Wednesday evening, the Frenchman became the first player in history to score a hat-trick at Real's iconic home ground and the Camp Nou in Europe's premier club competition.
A man who holds an abundance of Champions League records is Ronaldo. Not only is he the competition's all-time top goalscorer, but the legendary Portuguese forward is also Los Blancos' most prolific ever striker, having found the back of the net 450 times in his 438 appearances.
The discourse surrounding Mbappe's latest exploits against the Sky Blues is that this was his coming-out party for Los Merengues, and it seems that Real manager Carlo Ancelotti shares the same sentiments, as he said that the Bondy native could reach legendary levels with the Spanish giants that Ronaldo did.
"He has the quality to reach his numbers, but he has to work, because Cristiano set the bar very high, but he is so excited to play here, he can reach Cristiano's level," Ancelotti told members of the media after their progression to the Round of 16, as per First Post.

"Everyone was waiting for this hat-trick from him and it has finally arrived. But Mbappé is not the only one, we have many players who make a difference. And they make a difference with their collective work above their individual quality, which is remarkable."
