The 23-year-old attacker is currently on loan at the Red Castle from his parent Major League Soccer side, Toronto FC.
The Bafana Bafana international struggled for game time upon his arrival at the Canadian outfit, with Italy internationals Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi playing ahead of him.
So, in an effort to get more game time during the 2024/25 campaign, Mailula reunited with his former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Mokwena, at the home of the record Botola Pro Inwi champions.
It took some time for the Ga-Molepo native to establish his place within the Wydad setup, only scoring one goal in his first nine league games.
However, he seems to have now turned his form around, as he has seven goal contributions in his last nine appearances in the Moroccan top flight, becoming one of Mokwena's most important players in the process.
This past weekend, the two-time capped international found the back of the net in Wydad's biggest league victory of the season against SSC Mohammedia, moving them up to second on the log for the first time this campaign. According to Kooora, because of his good form, the club's board of directors want to make his stay at the club a permanent one.
It is believed that Mokwena does not want to see Mailula leave at the end of the 2024/25 season.

It is alleged that Mailula wants to stay at the club beyond the FIFA Club World Cup, set to be held in the United States of America later this year. The three-time African champions also want to finalise a deal that will see him stay to compete in next season's CAF Champions League, should they successfully qualify.
The report suggest that Wydad also want to sign Mehdi Mubarak on permanent deal as he is currently on loan from the Emirati club Al Ain.
