According to Afrique Sports, CAS has sent official communication to CAF, asking them to respond to an appeal launched by Cameroonian Football Federation president Eto'o.
Earlier this year, African football's governing body rejected the West African chief's candidacy to become a member of the institution's executive committee.
The decision is a consequence of Eto'o being found guilty of breaching the principles of ethics, integrity, and sportsmanship, as per CAF statutes, when he agreed to become an ambassador for gambling company 1xBet in mid-2024.
After having his potential candidacy denied, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star claimed that he would not take the verdict lying down, and it seems that he has now taken the matter to the highest judicial sports body on the planet.
With the latest CAF elections set to be held in March, there is a strong likelihood that Eto'o could have the ruling overturned in time for his name to be added to the ballot sheet or for the list of candidates to be cancelled altogether.
The elections are set to be held in Cairo and, while there will be multiple candidates vying to be among the CAF EXCO, one position that looks all but solidified is that of CAF president.
