The story!
Experienced tactician, Muhsin Ertugral had made a blockbuster return to the top flight of South African football with Cape Town City, after reuniting with John Comitis at the start of 2025.
The former Turkish national team technical adviser kicked off his spell at City with important wins over both Soweto giants, before being brought back down to earth by Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein, going down 1-0 on Saturday.
It's safe to say the 65-year-old feels at home in Mzansi, having managed the countries biggest clubs, Kaizer Chiefs (two spells) and Orlando Pirates and enjoyed four stints with Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs).
He also managed Lamontville Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United (now Durban City) and the now defunct Mpumalanga Black Aces, making him one of the PSL's best coaching exports.
In speaking to a Türkiye's Radyo Gol station, Ertugral explained why he chose to return to the country having last coached in the country back in 2018.
"South Africa is my home because it's where my heart feels most alive. With their people, their warmth makes me feel connected. His spirit represents the power of unbreakable hope, pride and unity," shared Ertugral.
"South Africa is not just a geographic area, it has become the very essence of my identity. In the stories we tell, the dreams we honor and pursue, live passionately in Africa. This is why South Africa will always be my home and inspiration," he added, taking to Instagram to share his answers for Radyo Gol to his followers in a post.
