After missing the last two games of 2024, many Kaizer Chiefs fans were left wondering about the whereabouts of jersey number 10, Gaston Sirino.
Information gathered by Soccer Laduma's sources indicate that the Uruguayan midfielder is currently sidelined due to injury.

Insiders at the club stated that the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder sustained an injury during their 2-0 defeat to Polokwane City. Scans revealed that Sirino has a broken rib, which doctors estimate will keep him out for approximately a month to a month and a half.
"It is not a very serious injury but it's an injury which will keep him out for at least six weeks. It's a broken rib injury. He was injured in the game against Polokwane City. Yes, the same game where Bradley Cross was injured. But his injury is minor compared to Bradley and that's why he will be out for at least six weeks after they worked on his injury. It actually takes about four weeks to recover according to the doctors but for him to be able to start training it should be six weeks (in total)," the Siya source stated.
A second insider said that any previous issues between Sirino and the technical team have been resolved, and the injury is the sole reason for his absence.

"No. There is nothing else that is keeping him out apart from the injury. Yes, there was a misunderstanding before because the coach was not the one who recommended his signing but since they can see what he can do on the field of play that is then water under the bridge now. All is good. The injury just happened at the wrong time, as well, when the team really needed his experience in midfield there. But there is no other problem apart from that. As soon as he is recovered he will be given the chance to compete for a place in the team just like any other player," the second insider stated.
Sirino joined Amakhosi at the start of the season after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns. He quickly became a fan favorite at Naturena, but scoring just once in the Betway Premiership so far. Attempts to reach Chiefs for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
Sirino's temporary absence due to injury marks a challenging period for Chiefs, as they navigate team dynamics and strive to maintain a competitive edge. His anticipated return promises to bolster the team's midfield, as Sirino aims to contribute his skill and experience upon recovery to help move the Glamour Boys up the table.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
