Insiders at the club have indicated that management is believed to have decided not to extend the former Maritzburg United defender's contract. However, there may still be a way for De Reuck's future to be resolved as a final decision has not been made yet.

The Siya sources added that Sundowns are focusing on promoting younger defenders from their DDC team, such as Malibongwe Khoza, and that allowing players like De Reuck to move on would create opportunities for emerging talent.
"Yes, his contract is coming to an end in June next year and by normal standards they should have started talking about the new contract by now as he can sign a pre-contract in January but Sundowns are quite and it's believed that they won't be renewing his contract. Management is looking at his contribution in the last two seasons," the source told Siya crew.
A second insider highlighted the intense competition in the central defensive position in the squad, which includes promising young players that need game time.

"The club feels they have enough cover in that position. With defenders like Grant Kekana, (Mothobi) Mvala and now even with Malibongwe Khoza, and at times Bathusi Aubaas also deployed into that position, so they feel it's better to give Rushine a chance to move on and go play more often at another club. So, his future in in limbo right now at Sundowns," the second insider stated.
This season, the 28-year-old Cape Town-born defender, who joined Sundowns from Maritzburg United in 2021, has had limited opportunities, following a previous season where he made just a few appearances.
As the Brazilians focus on integrating younger talent into their squad, De Reuck's future at the club remains uncertain. The strategic shift towards youth development underscores the club's long-term vision.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published. The Siya crew also contacted De Reuck's agent who pointed out that there are still options for the defender to continue his Sundowns journey beyond June 2025. While he could sign a pre-contract with another club from January, if that doesn't happen then there's time for the Brazilians to find a solution later.
