A Premier Soccer League Executive Committee member has commented on the R2 million gift received by the PSL's founding member, the great Dr Kaizer Motaung of Kaizer Chiefs.
During the National Soccer League's Quadrennial General Meeting held in Johannesburg yesterday, PSL chairman Irvin Khoza paid a touching tribute to Motaung for his dedicated service to the league and massive contribution to the development of football in the country.

In acknowledging Motaung's contribution and the sacrifices made, as well as part of his birthday celebrations after the Amakhosi supremo recently turned 80, the PSL chairman presented him with a R2 million gift to 'spoil himself', and the League's newly elected Exco member Sifiso 'Jomo' Biyela has welcomed the gesture as befitting.
"Well, it's not for me, I can't say where is that money coming from but what I know is that even if it comes from the League, he (Motaung) has served the League very well. He is one of the founding members of the League. Looking at the time that he has spent with the League since its inception, so really there is no amount of money that can match his contribution and his effort in changing the lives of footballers in this country. He deserves it and we really appreciate the gesture by the chairman to honour him while he is still alive," said Biyela, speaking to the media.

In commending the PSL chairman, Biyela also remembers when he was also honoured in 2022 for having guided two clubs from the National First Division to Mzansi's top flight in Thanda Royal Zulu and Richards Bay FC respectively.
"Some of us have been honoured by the chairman (before) anyway, and it's not about Bra K. We also brought something from the chairman (in the form of an award) when he acknowledged the fact that I personally have promoted two teams. So, it's not like maybe he's being biased. It's a gesture that if anyone is doing something incredible in terms of adding value in football, that's what he always does to reward people," the Richards Bay FC chairman added.
