The story
Prior to the past weekend's Red Bull Showrun in Johannesburg, the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team made a quick pit stop to visit the reigning league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Masandawana stars got an up-close look at the RB7 Formula 1 (F1) car, during a pop up showcase on Wednesday.
As Sundowns' official beverage partner, Red Bull saw the power in linking-up their champions F1 team with the most dominant force in South African football currently.
"For me, it's very exciting. It's my first time seeing a Formula 1 car and when they started it, the sound... it was loud, crazy. I'm just very excited that there's an event on Sunday and we will be there. I'm looking forward to it," shared Sundowns winger, Tashreeq Matthews.
"It was a fantastic experience. I think, not a lot of people have experienced this. You only see it on TV when they're busy racing on F1. To see it in person and to feel the magnitude of how everything is done, it's truly magnificent," said defender, Kegan Johannes.
Sunday's Showrun will see Red Bull Racing's RB7 take to Katherine Street in Sandton City, where British Formula One racing legend, David Coulthard will put on a show by racing the car around a makeshift track.
The RB7 was one of the most dominant machines in Formula 1 history, as the car achieved 18 out of 19 pole positions and winning 12 races on Red Bull Racing's way to a Drivers' and Constructor's Championship double in 2011, with Sebastian Vettel leading the way behind the wheel.
