Despite the pair initially enjoying a good relationship in France after their arrivals at Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, things soured as Mbappe's profile grew over time.
An on-field disagreement over penalty duties in 2022 appeared to signal the beginning of a lasting fallout for the duo in Paris, before Neymar joined Al Hilal in 2023.
Rumours suggest there are still bitter feelings toward Mbappe from Neymar, who is believed to have warned his fellow Brazilians at Los Blancos about the France captain.
According to journalist Cyril Hanouna, the Saudi Arabia-based superstar told his compatriots that playing alongside Mbappe was "catastrophic" at times.
Speaking on Europe 1, in quotes carried by Goal, Hanouna that claimed Neymar's relationship with his ex-PSG colleague was "hell".
"The Brazilians (at Real Madrid) are friends with Neymar," he said.
"It has always been a war between Neymar and Mbappe. Neymar has sent a paper about Mbappe to the Brazilians, telling them that it was catastrophic, that it was hell."
