Throughout the 2023/24 season, there were murmurings that the Bafana Bafana was considered surplus to requirements by Marcel Koller.
Those rumours ramped up even more once the transfer window opened, but it seems so far that the Red Devils are yet to receive a suitable offer for the reigning CAF Interclub's Player of the Year.
It leaves Tau in limbo going into the final year of his contract at the Cairo International Stadium, but, with the Egyptian transfer window only closing 25 October, the possibility of the Witbank native leaving the home of the record African champions remains.
However, for the time being, it seems that Tau will be utilised as he has been included in Ahly's squad for the new CAF Champions League campaign, according to Kooora.
