After putting in an underwhelming title defence during the 2013/14 season, the Red Devils were determined to return to the summit of English football and one of the ways they looked to do this in the following season was with the signing of the skilful winger.
They broke the then-British transfer record to secure Di Maria's services, but the Rosario native did not have the best of times at Old Trafford, and it would appear at least part of the reason for this was Louis van Gaal.
