The story
Cape Town City midfield general, Kamohelo Mokotjo recently spoke highly about Mamelodi Sundowns legend and former Bafana Bafana teammate, Hlompho Kekana.
The 33-year-old, who made the move to Cape Town in June after spending 18 months at Sekhukhune United, was tasked with blind ranking his top five South African midfielders in his generation.
Mokotjo had to "blind rank" Dean Furman, Bongani Zungu, Teboho Mokoena, Andile Jali and Kekana, seeing him place Furman in fifth, Jali fourth, Zungu third, Mokoena in second place and Kekana as his number one.
"That's my guy," said Mokotjo when Kekana's name was mentioned and didn't hesitate in ranking him first on his list. When asked what made Kekana such a special player, Mokotjo noted:
"He's versatile. He can do it all, you know what I mean? So, I think that's the special thing about Hlompho," he tells Goal South Africa in a recent interview.
Hlompho Kekana would top the list of anyone's top five, due to being the Premier Soccer League's most decorated captain with eight league titles and his venomous boot that got his two FIFA Puskas Award nominations.
