Tsotetsi: Chiefs Need A Local Assistant Coach

Tsotetsi: Chiefs Need A Local Assistant Coach

As Kaizer Chiefs prepare for a new era under an incoming coach, former defender Mokete Tsotetsi believes that the club needs to bolster both its playing squad and technical team to return to its former glory.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Tsotetsi emphasized the importance of recruiting players who embody the club's high standards and expectations.Tsotetsi expressed concern over the recent performances of the team and sees the appointment of a new coach as a pivotal opportunity for transformation.

"It's hurting to see a big team like Chiefs struggling like this. I just feel like the new coach will make a big difference because you can see he has done the changes already starting with the new technical team. And if he can bring in new players that will make another big difference, will make a difference," Tsotetsi told the Siya crew.

"It should be players who have the pedigree to play for Chiefs. They should redirect the badge and be prepared to die for the team on the field of play. The coach on his own cannot win games. He needs the players who are prepared to fight for him and the club to grind results. We have been lacking that in the past few years. Hope it will change in the new season," Tsotetsi added.

Furthermore, Tsotetsi highlighted the potential benefits of incorporating local expertise into the coaching staff, particularly through the appointment of a local assistant coach.

"They should at least have one local coach. That really helps the team. Some local players work well when the foreign coach has a local assistant. But if the team is happy with the new arrangement with the new coach and it will work for the team then it is good. All we want is the results to show and if they will deliver then we are good. But I would have loved to see at least one local coach in the technical team," Tsotetsi told Soccer Laduma.

Tsotetsi's insights reflect a broader sentiment among Chiefs' former players who are eager to see the club succeed. By integrating high-calibre players and blending international coaching strategies with local knowledge, Chiefs could enhance their competitiveness and align more closely with the club's rich heritage.

As the new season approaches, the decisions made now could significantly influence the team's trajectory and ability to finally achieve their ambitious goals.
