Coach Da Cruz Expected To Arrive In Soweto

Coach Da Cruz Expected To Arrive In Soweto

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to soon finalise assembling their technical team despite what could be a challenge with their head coach target.

As reported, Chiefs have agreed terms in principle with Nasreddine Nabi to take over the coaching reins for the start of the 2024/25 season.

While it seems that all is in order between the parties, with Nabi expected to arrive in Mzansi with his backroom staff which could consist of French coach Fernando Da Cruz who is earmarked to be the Tunisian mentor's first assistant, as well as Khalil Ben Youssef as second assistant, Ilyes Mzoughi as goalkeeper coach and Majdi Safi as the strength and conditioning coach, there could be a possible delay.

With Da Cruz expected to arrive in Johannesburg before the end of the week, Nabi could face a dilemma as his employers at Moroccan club AS FAR Rabat appear to be reluctant about parting ways with him.

Having finished the season in second place on the log behind former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer's Raja Casablanca, Nabi has left a lasting impression, with his bosses keen on retaining his services for next season to compete for the Champions League, as reported by the Siya crew.

However, it is still expected that Nabi will travel to Johannesburg possibly after Raja's Throne Cup semi-final on Sunday, where he is likely to find Da Cruz in Naturena having already started working if all goes according to plan, as Chiefs' players are expected to return on Friday for pre-season preparations.

Da Cruz, 52, is one of the coaches who have been linked with Amakhosi since last year, as the Soweto giants were searching for Arthur Zwane's successor.
