With Barcelona having fired Xavi Hernandez, a report claims this could be the actual reason for the club's decision to send him packing just weeks after he agreed to stay in the job until 2025.

In the days leading up to the 44-year-old's eventual departure, it was suggested his public comments about the Blaugrana's difficult financial situation angered president Joan Laporta.
This came only weeks after Laporta successfully persuaded Xavi to keep his position in the hot seat until next year after the coach announced in January he would leaving at the end of this season.
With days having passed since the club announced his exit, more information has come out that possibly sheds light on the extent of his fallout with Laporta and the Blaugrana board.
As reported by Sport, a disagreement between the president and Xavi over Robert Lewandowski's future at the Catalan giants could have been what pushed Laporta to call time on the tactician's tenure.
It is claimed Xavi wanted to axe the Poland international ahead of the coming season as he was looking for a younger and more energetic forward to lead his team's attack.
This dispute is believed to have contributed significantly to his sacking, with Lewandowski having finished the season with 26 goals in 49 matches.

The 35-year-old striker's agent, Pini Zahavi, is also said to have "enormous" influence at Barcelona, as has Jorge Mendes, who represents both Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix, both whom Xavi was reportedly not keen on keeping for the coming campaign.
